Branding, Storytelling, & Film

From 2019 through 2022, we served as the creative and content leads for Unleash the Gospel, a bold movement initiated by the Archdiocese of Detroit to renew the Church in Southeast Michigan. What began as a pastoral letter from Archbishop Vigneron transformed into a dynamic call to action for Catholics to live and witness to the Gospel in their daily lives.

Our role was to build a cohesive, accessible, and inspiring brand experience that could meet the challenge of serving a Church in transition, while uplifting the faithful through a pandemic and beyond. We developed and executed integrated creative strategies across video, digital media, print, and live events that helped unify the Archdiocese’s communications and spark engagement at the parish and individual level.

Services Provided

Creative Direction & Strategy

  • Oversaw brand execution across all platforms and touchpoints

  • Helped Ddvelop quarterly and annual content calendars, launch plans, and campaign rollouts

  • Managed internal and external collaborators, including writers, designers, producers, and contractors

Branding & Design

  • Created and maintained a consistent visual identity across multiple campaigns and sub-brands (e.g., Detroit Catholic, Catholic Schools, “Come, Encounter Christ”)

  • Designed a 50+ page print periodical magazine with themed issues, profiles, and articles aligned to pastoral priorities

  • Art-directed hundreds of digital assets, social graphics, parish toolkits, and event collateral

Video Production

  • Produced dozens of video pieces, from profile stories and testimony-based shorts to event promos and liturgical campaign videos

  • Directed and edited multi-day shoots with both clergy and laypeople, spotlighting how the Gospel is lived in everyday Detroit

  • Crafted a visual tone that was warm, hopeful, and rooted in the city’s gritty beauty

Podcasting & Audio

  • Launched and produced the “Open Door Policy” podcast, hosted by local priests Fr. Steve Pullis and Fr. Patrick Gonyeau

  • Developed branding and distribution strategies for diocesan audio content

Outcome

By grounding Unleash the Gospel in consistent, intentional storytelling, the Archdiocese was able to move from abstraction to activation, inviting thousands of Catholics across the region to become missionary disciples. Our work supported measurable increases in digital engagement, parish-level participation, and brand clarity across diocesan initiatives. It also helped set the bar for what modern Catholic communications could look like in the U.S.

As the Church in Detroit emerged from the height of the pandemic, the Unleash the Gospel brand had not only survived but grown stronger, anchored by an identity and messaging system that could flex across digital and in-person formats, support multiple teams, and inspire action across generations.
